Arizona To Tee Off In Nationally-Televised Stephens Cup

DALLAS, Texas – No. 18 Arizona Men’s Golf will complete their fall schedule with a return trip to the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. All three days of the event, which debuted in 2021, will be broadcasted on the Golf Channel. The Wildcats will tee off on Monday, Oct. 9 as part of the field taking on the Trinity Forest Golf Club.

“We are incredibly excited to return to this prestigious event,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “This is one of the top events in college golf, and it creates a postseason-type of atmosphere for our team to compete in. Our guys have had a great couple weeks of practice since the Fighting Illini Invitational, and we are all eager to get back out there and post more great scores.”

Arizona’s competition in the field of this year’s Stephens Cup will include Arkansas, Florida State, LSU, San Diego State, SMU and Stanford. The Wildcats participation in the event in 2021 was at the Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas.

Head coach Jim Anderson will utilize a lineup that features juniors Tiger Christensen and Johnny Walker in addition to the sophomore trio of Filip Jakubcik, Yannick Malik and Zach Pollo. Jakubcik has posted Arizona’s lowest score in all three tournaments this season, highlighted by his third-place finish at the Sahalee Players Championship last month.

The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is an annual collegiate golf tournament named in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens.  The tournament format will be 54 holes of stroke play setting the field for a final day of match play based on the stroke-play team finish; the final day of match play will be 18 holes. The event will also recognize its 54-hole winners upon completion of stroke play. Tournament week will begin with a practice round and college-am fundraising tournament on Sunday of tournament week followed by three days of official tournament play.
