Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Southern Highlands Collegiate


The No. 34 University of Missouri men’s golf team continued its strong play to open the spring campaign, placing eighth of 15 schools at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas.

The Tigers moved up one place on the final day of the tournament with a three-over 291 on Tuesday. Overall, Mizzou finished at +11 during the three-day event, finishing ahead of five teams ranked in the top 50 – No. 17 New Mexico (ninth), No. 29 Georgia (10th), No. 30 Texas A&M (11th), No. 50 UNLV (13th) and No. 4 Arizona State (14th).

No. 15 Oklahoma secured the team title at eight-under, followed by No. 2 Auburn (-5) and No. 22 Texas (+2).

Individually, senior Jack Lundin recorded his fourth top-five finish in seven events this season, leading the Tigers at five-under (66-70-75) to place fourth overall. Senior Charlie Crockett tied for the fourth-lowest round of the day with a three-under 69 on Tuesday. Crockett carded six birdies to lead the Tigers as he moved up 22 spots in the final standings and placed 29th overall at +3 (73-77-69).

Junior Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson (78-73-72) and sophomore Alfons Bondesson (74-74-75) tied for 46th in the 84-man field seven-over. Sigurbrandsson fired an even-par 72 on the final day of action, while Bondesson carded at three-over.

The Tigers return to action next week, competing at the Colleton River Challenge in Bluffton, South Carolina. The two-day tournament is set to begin on Monday.
