Holden, Davis and Lopez-Lanchares Earn SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tennessee women’s golf swept February’s final weekly award slate, as senior Kayla Holden and junior Bailey Davis were named SEC Co-Golfers of the week, and Martina Lopez-Lanchares was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The awards come on the back of the Chevron Collegiate at the Golf Club of Houston, where Holden and Davis tied for sixth place with scores of 9-under (207), the fourth-best 54-hole marks in program history.

With the honor, Davis notches her second SEC Golfer of the Week Award (September 2022). Her 7-under (65) in round two of the competition was a season best and the second-lowest score of the tournament. She tallied three eagles during the tournament, more than any other team, and now holds two of the four lowest 54-hole marks in school history.

This is the first SEC honor for the senior Holden, who recorded her second straight top-10 finish in Houston. She spent the entire tournament in the top six, fueled by a career-low 6-under (66) in round one. The Port St. Lucie, Florida, native logged 15 birdies over 54 holes, tied for the fourth-most of the tournament, in addition to 34 pars.

Lopez-Lanchares, who competed as an individual at the Chevron Collegiate, recorded a 54-hole score of 3-under (213) and finished tied for 30th, the best finish among all individuals. The Spainiard’s round-two 5-under (67) was also the lowest among all individuals and the lowest score of her young career.

The awards mark the Lady Vols’ fourth SEC weekly honor of the season, along with Manassanan Chotikabhukkana’s SEC Golfer of the Week in October 2023.

Tennessee will be back in action in Saddlebrooke, Arizona, competing in the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Country Club from March 15-17.
