Blue Devils Travel to Florida for The Hayt

SAWGRASS, Fla. – Looking to build on its tie for fourth at the Wake Forest Invitational on the past March 4 and 5, the Duke men’s golf team returns to action on March 9-11 at The Hayt – played at Sawgrass Country Club and hosted by North Florida.

The 14-team field consists of five top-25 teams in the most recent ranking update from Scoreboard by Clippd. No. 23 Duke is joined by No. 1 North Carolina, No. 13 Virginia, No. 21 Alabama and No. 25 North Florida inside the top-25.

The Blue Devils have played in this event nine previous time, with their best team result coming in 2013, when Duke finished in second place at 5-under, 571.

Head coach Jamie Green starts a lineup of Luke Sample, William Love, Bryan Kim, Ethan Evans and Ian Siebers. Kelly Chinn and Jimmy Zheng are also in the field, playing individually. Love is coming off a 1-over, third-place effort at the Wake Forest Invitational, held at Pinehurst No. 2. The sophomore from Atlanta, Ga., has nabbed top-three finishes in both spring events after missing most of the fall schedule due to injury.

Sawgrass Country Club plays to a par of 72 and a distance of 6,966 yards. Each day will see 18 holes of action, starting on March 9. The Blue Devils start their tournament off of the No. 1 tee, beginning at 8:20 a.m., playing alongside Ohio State and South Florida. The two individual Blue Devils both go off of the 10th tee, with Zheng teeing off at 9 a.m., and Chinn in the last group off the tee at 9:40 a.m.

The pairings will be adjusted for both the second and third round, according to standings. Live scoring for all three days is available on Golfstat.
