Day Two of The Goodwin in the Books


SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (March 29, 2024) – Washington State men’s golf wrapped up day two of The Goodwin in 24th of the 31-team field with a two-round score of 25-over, 585.

Sophomore Sam Renner and redshirt freshman Ben Borgida both sit in a tie for 53rd at 5-over, 145.

In the second round, Renner used a pair of birdies over his first 10 holes to sit even, before another bogey and birdie on the back nine had him even going into his final hole. He registered a nine on the final hole, though, to finish the round at 5-over, 75.

Borgida was excellent on Friday with birdies on holes four and seven to sit 1-under at the turn. On the back nine he scattered two birdies and two bogeys to finish the round at 1-under, 69.

Senior Preston Bebich is tied for 109th with a 9-over, 149 two-round score. He carded a pair of birdies on the front nine to help him sit at 1-over, before a trio of bogeys and a double-bogey on the back nine led him to a 6-over, 76 day.

Fifth year Pono Yanagi is in a tie for 120th at 10-over, 150. After parring each of his first six holes, he birdied seven and bogeyed holes eight and nine for a 1-over front nine. After the turn, two more birdies and another two bogeys put him at 1-over, 71 in round two.

Junior Franklin Lydra sits tied for 132nd through two rounds at 11-over, 151. He had a clean opening nine holes, parring all of them, but on the back nine, a birdie mixed in with three bogeys and two double-bogeys led him to a 6-over, 76 second round.

The Cougars will finish up with day three of The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford at TPC Harding Park, tomorrow, March 30 with tee times beginning at 7 a.m.
