Cards Season Comes to a Close at Regional


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women’s golf season came to an end by tying for seventh place at NCAA Albuquerque Regional at UNM Championship Course on Wednesday.
 
The Cardinals finished the three-day regional at 21-over-par, 11 shots off the point of advancement and tied with Sam Houston State. Oregon, Texas, Georgia and TCU each advanced to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Louisville posted one of the top rounds on the day by shooting a 6-over-par, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit needed to advance to the championship.
 
Kendall Griffin and Mairead Martin each tied for 17th overall after shooting a 4-over-par 220. Griffin posted a final round 73 to move into the top 20 overall. The senior shot 2-under-par on the front nine to help her make a move up the standings. Martin carded a final round 76 to fall six places on the afternoon and into a tie with Griffin.
 
Lauren Thibodeau had the best round of the day for the Cardinals, shooting 72 on Wednesday to finish at 6-over-par and in a tie for 25th place,  Carmen Griffith tied for 37th after closing the season with an 8-over-par 224 and Gabbi Bentancourt rounded out the top five by shooting 80 to finmish in a tie for 60th place.
