Gamecocks Announce Fall Slate On The Course – University of South Carolina Athletics

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s golf announced its fall schedule on Thursday. The team will look to defend titles at two of its four events against some of the best fields in the nation.

The Gamecocks will open the season again at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sep. 12-14) in Lake Elmo, Minn. Carolina ran away with a seven-shot victory last year with a 54-hole total of 850 (-14). First Team All-American Hannah Darling earned runner-up medalist honors in her Gamecock debut after firing a pair of 66s. She recorded a 54-hole tally of 205 (-11).

Carolina will be off the rest of the month before traveling north to Chicagoland for the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 3-4) at Westmoreland Country Club.

The Gamecocks will jump right back into competition playing in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup (Oct. 10-12) for the second consecutive season. The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is an annual collegiate tournament named in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens, and launched in 2021 at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. This year’s event will take place at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla. The event features 54-holes of stroke play with match play on the final day determining the team champion. The Gamecocks fell to LSU 4-1 in the title bout last season.

Golf Channel will again be providing live coverage of the event each day. The women’s field will feature defending National Champion Stanford, Wake Forest, LSU, Southern Cal, Arkansas and Duke.

South Carolina will conclude the fall again at the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 28-30) in Wilmington N.C. The Gamecocks won by 12 shots a season ago and were on of just two in the 18-team field to break par. Senior Justine Fournand is defending champion. She won by three shots a season ago at 8-under par (208). Fournand trailed down the stretch and finished birdie, birdie, eagle to win.

High hopes again await Carolina heading into the 2022-23 season. The team returns four of its five starters welcoming in an experienced grad transfer in Katherine Muzi (Southern Cal) and a talented freshman in Mia Sandtorv Lussand (Bergen, Norway).
