Boilermakers Slip to 10th at Puerto Rico Classic


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Herman Sekne and Peyton Snoeberger recorded under-par rounds, but the No. 28-ranked Purdue men’s golf team couldn’t make up any ground and slipped to T-10th after 36 holes at the Puerto Rico Classic.
 
The Boilermakers totaled an even-par round of 288 for a 36-hole tally of 577 (289-288) to sit 20 shots behind leader East Tennessee State (-19). Oklahoma (-14), Ohio State (-14), Georgia (-12), Ole Miss (-11), South Carolina (-11) and Wisconsin (-11) all round out the top 5.

The event features eight of the nation’s top-50 ranked teams.

Herman Sekne (73-71=144), Peyton Snoeberger (73-71=144) and Kent Hsiao (71-73=144) are all tied for 39th at even-par 144. Nels Surtani (72-75=147) and Andrew Farraye (74-73=147) are tied for 55th.

 

Playing as individuals, Nick Dentino is tied for 39th at even-par 144 (74-70) and Luke Prall is tied for 67th at 7-over par 151 (77-74).

Purdue will be paired with Marquette and the College of Charleston in the final round on Tuesday morning.
