With the 2023 Solheim Cup now in the history books the Ladies European Tour (LET) resumes this week with a trip to Deauville for the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
For the second consecutive year the tournament will be staged at the Diane Barrière course at Golf Barrière, Deauville, in the Normandy area of northwestern France.
A total of 108 players from 24 nations will tee up in the 54-hole stroke play event with this year marking the its 33rd edition.
No fewer than 15 French players will be competing on home soil including currently Race to Costa del Sol number one Celine Boutier, the 2021 champion who arrives in Deauville just days after competing at the Solheim Cup in Spain.
Alongside the French major winner in this group are Anne-Lise Caudal, making her 19th appearance in the tournament, and Louise Uma Landgrag, the 14-year-old amateur who made headlines on the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) in April when she became the youngest ever winner on a professional women’s golf tour.
Elsewhere, seven more winners from this season will be teeing up at Golf Barrière. Joining Boutier in this circle are Germany’s Alexandra Försterling – the winner of the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open two weeks ago – Spanish players Nuria Iturrioz and Carmen Alonso, Czechia’s Kristyna Napoleaova, Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Soenderby, Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson, Germany’s Patricia Isabel Schmidt, and England’s Lily May Humphreys.
Moroccan Ines Laklalech made history last time out when she by became the first Arab and first North African woman to win an LET title after defeating England’s Meghan MacLaren in a playoff.
The latter will be looking for redemption this year and arrives off the back of a T7 finish in Switzerland. LPGA and LET dual member Laklalech has not made the trip to France to defend her title.
Offering a prize fund of €350,000, the winner of this year’s Lacoste Ladies Open de France will be crowned on Saturday 30 September following a cut of the top 60 players and ties after round two.
Entry for spectators is free and the tournament will once again offer a unique experience, combining golf and art.
As in 2022, Golf Barrière will host an open-air art gallery, with avant-garde works of art on site to be enjoyed by all, thanks to the title sponsor, Lacoste. Included in this is a stage on the opening hole which serves as a launchpad for the tournament.
