Five Things to Know: Briar's Creek Invitational


MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women’s golf will continue their spring season with the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Johns Island, South Carolina, at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. The Badgers will play a total of 54 holes between Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12. 

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last competed in the Westbrook Invitational where the team finished in third place at 34-under par. Junior Chloe Chan led the Badgers after securing a first place finish at 14-under par. Chan set a new 54-hole school record for individuals, with a 202 (66-71-65=202). She surpassed the previous record of 209, which was set by Gabby Curtis in 2018 (67-74-68=209) at the NCAA Regional in Madison, Wisconsin. She is just the second Badger to win the Westbrook Invitational, with Brooke Ferrell earning top honors in 2016 (71-71-69=211). The Badgers also set three team program records, as they shot a new 18-hole school record (270), a new 36-hole school record (560) and a new 54-hole school record (830). Wisconsin’s third place finish ties their best at the Westbrook Invitational, with the team also finishing third in 2014. 

2. The Course: The invitational, which is held at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek, will be played as a par-72 at 6,152 yards. Designed by Rees Jones, the course welcomes a combination of golf and the natural environment, as it features water, marshes, wildlife and occasional bunkers. 

3. The Tournament: The invitational will be held on Monday, March 11, and Tuesday, March 12, with 36 holes being played on Monday, and 18 on Tuesday. Tee times on Monday will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. 

4. The Field: Teams competing in the invitational include Boston College, Campbell, Charleston, Florida, Georgetown, Illinois, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, NC State, Old Dominion, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, UCF and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers is Carly Carter, Chloe Chan, Kate Brody, Vanessa Ho and Camille Kuznik. Additionally, Gia Feliciano will be representing Wisconsin as an individual competitor.
