Clemson, SC—Former Clemson All-ACC golfer Savannah Grewal shot a four-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish tied for fourth at the Blue Bay LPGA Golf Tournament in the Peoples Republic of China. Grewal’s finish was the highest ever by a former Clemson golfer on the LPGA tour, in just the second LPGA event of her career.

Grewal had rounds of 69-74-64-68 for a 275 total.  She finished in a tie for fourth with two LPGA stars – Minjee Lee is a two-time major champion, including the 2022 United States Open Champion.  She also tied Lydia Ko, who is just one victory away from qualifying for the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Grewal’s third round 64 was the low round of the tournament by any golfer and set a record for the Blue Bay LPGA Tournament. Grewal had 10 birdies in that round.

Grewal is just four months removed from being a member of the Clemson team.  The Clemson graduate played for Kelley Hester’s team this past fall and had a 70.00 stroke average, best on the team in the fall, helping the team to a #15 national ranking.   The native of Canada was  co-medalist at the Cougar Classic in September with a 197 score, 16-under par.  She was co-medalist with Ingrid Lindblad of LSU, the number-one amateur in the world.

Grewal went through the LPGA Tour Qualifying tournaments this past fall and qualified for the tour so she decided to turn professional.   Overall, Grewal played four and a half years for Clemson and helped the Tigers win their first ACC Championship last spring.  The team finished second at the NCAA Regional and reached the NCAA National Tournament for just the second time.
