Wildcats Head to Napa for Chevron Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. – No. 14 Arizona Women’s Golf will make its return trip to the Chevron Silverado Showdown for a fourth time since the 2017-18 season when it tees off on Monday, April 8. The event marks the Wildcats’ final tournament before the Pac-12 Championships, which will be played at Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Washington during the third week of April.

“Our team is eager to get out and compete again as we begin to prepare for the postseason,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “We carded some good rounds last week in Phoenix, but we didn’t end the tournament as strongly as we would have liked. That will be part of our focus this week in Napa at a course that has challenged us in the past. I know our young ladies are eager to take on those challenges and put in another great week of golf.”

Arizona has posted a strong spring season that is highlighted by a team win of the Gators Invitational in Florida in addition to a pair of individual victories by Gile Bite Starkute and Nena Wongthanavimok. Since the beginning of the new year, the Cats have finished in the top three as a team on three occasions in stroke play events in addition to picking up a pair of match play wins over top-25 programs at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge. Starkute, Wongthanavimok and Charlotte Back have all earned Pac-12 Golfer of the Week honors as well in 2024.

In its history at the event, Arizona’s top finish was third place in 2018 with a team score of 6-over par. Bianca Pagdanganan finished tied for third at that year’s tournament at 7-under, which remains Arizona’s top individual finish at the event.

Arizona is part of a field that boasts seven teams ranked in the top 25 of this week’s NCAA national rankings. The tournament is scheduled for 54 holes of stroke play over three days.
