Cougs conclude The Goodwin - Washington State University Athletics


SAN FRANCISCO – The Washington State men’s golf team concluded The Goodwin in a tie for 20th on the team leaderboard, as the Cougars end their stay at TPC Harding Park carding 26-over 866.

Senior Pono Yanagi led the way for the Cougars at The Goodwin, as the Hawai’i native shot 5-over 215 over his 54 holes of play to finish the tournament tied for 52nd on the player leaderboard. Yanagi posted his best round at The Goodwin in Sunday’s finale, as he shot 1-over 71.

WSU wrapped up the three-day tournament by shooting 17-over 297 in the tournament’s third round. The Cougars conclude The Goodwin in a tie for 20th on the team leaderboard. Washington State finished the tournament posting a team score of 866 (+26), tying them with No. 33-ranked Little Rock and Lipscomb.

Freshman Sam Renner finished two strokes behind Yanagi, as the Bend, Oregon native shot 8-over 218 to finish in a tie for 78th in his first Goodwin tournament. Renner wrapped up his stay in San Francisco by shooting 4-over 74 in the third round.

Juniors Jaden Cantafio and Preston Bebich concluded The Goodwin tied for 95th on the player leaderboard, as each golfer carded 10-over 220. Cantafio shot 4-over 74 in Sunday’s third round, while Bebich carded 8-over 78 to end his stay at TPC Harding Park.

No. 11-ranked Oklahoma captured the tournament’s team title, as the Sooners shot 18-under 822 to win The Goodwin by six strokes over No. 11 Georgia Tech. Oklahoma’s Ben Lorenz won the individual title at The Goodwin, as he shot 9-under 201.
