Sun Devil Women’s Golf 2022-23 Season Recap

Sun Devil Women's Golf 2022-23 Season Recap

Sun Devil Women’s Golf provided several memorable moments during the 2022-23 season. Take a look back at some of the top highlights of another successful campaign in Tempe.

HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL

Sun Devil Athletics was thrilled to extend four of its head coaches over the 2022 Christmas holiday, including Women’s Golf Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye. Recently wrapping up her eighth year with ASU, Farr-Kaye has been extended through the 2027-28 athletic calendar. She completed the trifecta in 2017, becoming the first individual in NCAA history to win a National Championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach at the same school.

ASHLEY ALL-AMERICAN

Sun Devil Women’s Golf junior Ashley Menne was named a Second Team All-American, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced following the conclusion of the 2022-23 season. Menne was one of only 15 female collegiate golfers at the Division I level to earn this prestigious honor. After two seasons of receiving honorable mention distinction, Menne claims a spot on the Second Team, recognized as one of the Top-30 golfers in the nation by the coaches.

By virtue of her selection to the WGCA All-American Second Team, Ashley Menne has now been named an All-American in each of her first three seasons in Tempe. She becomes the first Sun Devil since Olivia Mehaffey (2017-21) to earn All-American honors in each of her first three years. Next year, Menne could join some exclusive company. Should she earn a fourth All-American distinction, she would become only the fourth four-time All-American in program history. Only legendary figures Olivia Mehaffey, Azahara Munoz (2006-09) and Kellee Booth (1995-98) have accomplished this impressive feat.

PAC-12 ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

Arizona State landed four individuals on the Pac-12 All-Conference teams, tied with Oregon and USC for the most selections of any school. Ashley Menne and Grace Summerhays were two of only 12 golfers named to the First Team in arguably the deepest conference in the country. Freshmen Paula Schulz-Hanssen and Beth Coulter earned two of only eight spots on the Honorable Mention team, meaning 4 of the 20 possible All-Conference picks were Sun Devils.
