Virginia Men's Golf | Cavaliers Face Tough Field at Watersound Collegiate

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 10 Virginia men’s golf team heads to Panama City Beach, Fla., this week to compete at the Watersound Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event will take place Monday through Wednesday on the par 72, 7,246-yard Sharks Tooth Golf Club course. The 12-team field includes nine teams currently ranked in the top-50 of the NCAA golf rankings.

Play gets underway Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. Wedensday’s final round will start at 7:30 a.m.

Virginia’s lineup features Ben James, Bryan Lee, Deven Patel, George Duangmanee and Josh Duangmanee. Chris Fosdick will compete as an individual.

In UVA’s last outing, Lee shared medalist honors at the Puerto Rico Classic with a score of 15-under 201. James tied for third at 202. James currently leads UVA with a 69.67 stroke average while Lee is right behind him at 69.80. Lee is ranked No. 27 in this week’s collegiate poll while James is No. 34.

The tournament field includes (NCAA ranking) host school Alabama (11), Clemson, Florida State (13), Georgia Tech (12), Mississippi State (18), Ohio State (27) , Oklahoma State (40), NC State, Notre Dame (41) , Penn and Vanderbilt (3).
